BLACK VELVET was formed in early 2007 in order to create their own interpretation of punkrock music. It was not about being louder, faster or cooler than anyone but it was about being authentic and expressing their own thoughts about life, society and all other things on their minds.

In their music they combine punkrock with a sophisticated mix of hardcore and rock, which provides a perfect backdrop for memorable melodies and aggressive scream parts. The result are songs with a high degree of power, presence and empathy which go right into your ear!

To share this passionate sound with the world, the band hit the studio for the first time in late 2007 to record their first 3-track-demo, which opened the gate to the first support shows for bands like Madball, the Bones, H2O, A Wilhelm Scream or Evergreen Terrace, just to name a few. But this should only be the beginning of something bigger…

BLACK VELVET went to the studio for the second time in fall 2009 to ban their best songs on a piece of plastic. And what came out, is a punkrock album which doesn’t have to hide behind the releases of the established bands of the scene. The debut-album ‘WHEN BLINDNESS HITS THE LIGHT’ combines melodic mid-tempo anthems with energetic fast-forward hardcore and screamo attitude with rock guitars. ‘WHEN BLINDNESS HITS THE LIGHT’ is no reinvention of music, but it could be an album, the European punkrock-scene may have been waiting for
